Team effort leads Maine South to 3rd at Conant Invite
The Maine South boys swimming team finished third at the Conant Invitational Saturday.

Conant won the six-team invite with 280 points, followed by Mundelein (241) and Maine South (208).
Jared DeGrazia was impressive while winning the Class A 50-yard freestyle (23.13 seconds) and the Class A 100 backstroke (54.42).
Tom Larocca pulled out a first-place finish in the Class B 500 free (5 minutes,20.56 seconds).
Sean Ryan won the Class C 100 free (55.51).
In the 200 free, a trio of Hawks all secured second-place finishes in their respective heats: Andrew Salomon (1:50.39) in Class A, Michael Zadlo (1:57.35) in Class B and Dan San Gabino (2:06.58) in Class C.
Other second-place finishers for the Hawks were Brandon Yagihashi (25.24) in the Class B 50 free, Adam Wojiechowski (59.09) in the Class A 100 butterfly, Tom Graziano (54.53) in the Class B 100 free and Mike Dobben (5:38.50) in the Class C 500 free.
Third-place finishers were Kevin Polston (25.19) in the Class C 50 free, Solomon (51.55) in Class A 100 free and Zadlo (5:18.19) in the Class A 500 free.
In the 200 medley relay, Maine South’s Kyle Christie, Peter Hadlaw, Matt Kramer, and Larocca (2:01.72) finished second in Class F; Luke Kapolnek, Martin Ruskov, Pat Ryan and Dobben (2:03.99) placed third in Class C; and Jon Prinz, DeGrazia, Wojiechowski, and Yagihashi (1:51.09) placed third in Class A.
Kevin Morrisroe, Pat Kusion, Pat Ryan and San Gabino (1:44.87) won the Class C 200 free relay. Sean Ryan, Polston, Zadlo, and Prinz (1:41.03) finished in third in Class B. Solomon, Graziano, Yagihashi, and Wojiechowski (1:35.33) placed third in Class A.
All four Maine South 400 free relay teams finished second: Georgio Ronis, Kramer, Hadlaw, and Larocca (3:54.26) in Class F; Robert Katkus, San Gabino, Kusion, and Morrisroe (3:51.06) in Class C; Sean Ryan, Pat Ryan, Polston, and Zadlo (3:40.45) in Class B; Salomon, Graziano, Wojiechowski, and DeGrazia (3:23.62) in Class A.
