Kahen leads GBN bowlers to 8th at Vernon Hills Classic

Corey Kahen’s seventh-place total of 1,267 pins for six games led Glenbrook North to an eighth-place finish Saturday at the Vernon Hills Cougar Classic Saturday at Brunswick Zone in Vernon Hills.

Kahen finished with games of 194-216-187-215-242-213 to lead the Spartans to a 5,567 total. Andrew (6.099), Harlem (6,070) and Rockford Guilford (5,960) were the top three teams.

Also contributing for GBN were seniors Tim Schultz (37th, 1,119 with high game of 235), Ryan Salzman (41st, 1,102 with high game of 213), Jacob Townsend (58th, 1,043 with high game of 196) and Dan Doolan (60th, 1,036 with high game of 223).

Deerfield junior Anthony Tometz (1,185) and senior Aaron Howitz (1,150) placed 20th and 23rd, respectively, for the 18th-place Warriors (5,112). Tometz rolled games of 175-206-200-167-201-236 and Horwitz had games of 172-172-178-231-173-224. Also contributing for Deerfield were junior Daniel Depeder (78th, 940 with high game of 181), freshman Ryan Flamm (811 for 5 games) and sophomore Joey Singer (574 for 4 games).

New Trier (5,209) placed 15th without any bowler finishing in the top 25. Senior Jack McWilliams (1,138) took 27th to lead the Trevians, rolling games of 198-203-204-199-171-163.

New Trier’s other finishers were juniors Sam Shepard (30th, 1,129 with a high game of 233), Alex Textor (51st, 1,072 with high game of 222), Dan McKevice (84th, 855 for 5 games), James Olk (580 for 4 games) and Alex Herrman (435 for 3 games).

Evanston (1,599) took 23rd, led by sophomore Xavier Ajamia (53rd, 1,058 with high game of 200), senior Savon Ross (777 for 5 games with a high game of 213) and sophomores Kenard Poyser (700 for 4 games with a high game of 198) and Jackson Honnold (671 for 5 games).
