CSL players selected for all-star basketball game

Lake County Senior Shootout to benefit American Heart Association

Seven Central Suburban League boys basketball players and three CSL girls basketball players have been selected to play in the first Lake County Senior Shootout.

The two high school basketball all-star games will take place April 9 at the College of Lake County in Grayslake Illinois, with a girls game and boys game.

The event is sponsored by the American Heart Association/Hoops for Hearts.

"We want to raise awareness of the disease hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (which is the No. 1 cause of death to young athletes) by informing the parents/students and school officials on how serious this disease is and how important it is for student-athletes to get tested," event coordinator Fred Fleming said.  "Portions of the proceeds for this event will be donated to the American Heart Association for this cause."

Deerfield’s Ryan Davis, Duje Dukan, and Oren Schwartz were all selected to play on the West team in the boys game. Waukegan’s Jereme Richmond, Quan Connor and Mike Springs will be joined by Highland Park’s Marin Kukoc on the East team.

Waukegan’s Amy and Sarah Angelos and Highland Park’s Nichole Monhait were selected to the West team in the girls game.
